Pubs Protection Officer

Gary Levin
Personal introduction.
Retired, 68 years old
What inspired you to join the branch committee, and what are you most looking forward to achieving in your role?
I cannot remember but I have been on the committee for over 30 years now apart from a couple of years when I took a rest. My aim for this year is to try and list any pubs in the area that may be classed as 1 star or above.
Can you share a bit about your background and experience with real ale, cider, or perry?
Been drinking real ale all my life and was brought up drinking Boddingtons and Yates & Jackson beers, now sadly brewed no longer. I have tried a great number of different beers and was a ticker up to 10 years ago and finished with a personal record of trying in excess of 20,000 different beers!
What do you see as the biggest opportunities or challenges facing the branch in the coming year, and how do you plan to address them?
To rebuild the branch into an effective campaigning unit by encouraging more people to actively get involved.
Outside of your involvement with CAMRA, what are some of your interests or hobbies?
Football, cricket, reading, and old Western films
If you could raise a pint with anyone, living or dead, who would it be and why?
Isambard Kingdom Brunel probably the greatest engineer ever
